Act II Discussion

1. Summarize, in a sentence or two, Brutus's speech on pp. 21-22. Also has Brutus decided to ally himself with Cassius and try to topple Caesar?

After Brutus received the letters from Cassius that were supposedly from the citizens of Rome explaining how the most powerful was Brutus and Caesar made Brutus ally with Cassius. They both came to the conclusion that Caesar must be killed.  The letters told him exactly what he wanted to hear to make him realise hoe he was wrong about Caesar all this time. The men meet in different places and Brutus convinces the gathered men for the not to take an oath. Cassius and Brutus turned all the men against Caesar from a couple of false letters.

Act I Discussion

13. Give evidence from scene II explain why Cassius is plotting to overthrow Caesar.

In Act I Cassius is trying to explain to Brutus and also Anthony how Caesar is seen in the eyes of Romans as a god. He tells Brutus how Caesar is far from being a god from all the things he has done for Caesar. " BRUTUS "What means this shouting? I do fear, the people Choose Caesar for their king." CASSIUS "Ay, do you fear it?Then must I think you would not have it so." Act I Scene II demonstrates how Cassius is afraid of Caesar having power over the people of Rome. Cassius tries to persuade Brutus of the power Caesar is gaining over the rest of them. Brutus doesn't listen to him and offered to think about his propositions. CASSIUS "Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world
Like a Colossus, and we petty men Walk under his huge legs and peep about To find ourselves dishonorable graves." He explains how Caesar is using them as slaves and a=because of that all their powers over the people is going to him.

"The Arts" Fixers Of The World....

The arts are the surface of our brains used as inspiration, for the real time problems faced by the world and our generation. "The arts" are a simple passing time for us to think, imagine and dream. Most of the time not the fixers of the problems. The arts are seen as a waste of time because of how many people fail in their lives. The talented once spend their lives without any struggles, the dreamers stuck in the clouds  face the consequences of reality."Welcome to the real world", she said to me Condescendingly Take a seat Take your life" by John Mayer explains that life is not going forever to be a dream.   Life is not fair, people need to open their eyes and see that war, hate and life will never be changed by the art. They might be the inspiration but not the fixers of the world. We need inspiration to make them disappear, for the world to be perfect again. If
it ever was! The sound of the proclamation are screaming out loud from the minds of the young.

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world

Nelson Mandela

                                                     "Don't Forget To Remember Me"

18 years have come and gone
For momma they flew by
But for me they drug on and on
We were loading up that Chevy
Both tryin' not to cry
Momma kept on talking
Putting off good-bye
Then she took my hand and said
'Baby don't forget

Before you hit the highway
You better stop for gas
There's a 50 in the ashtray
In case you run short on cash
Here's a map and here's a Bible
If you ever lose your way

Just one more thing before you leave
Don't forget to remember me'

This downtown apartment sure makes me miss home
And those bills there on the counter
Keep telling me I'm on my own
And just like every Sunday I called momma up last night
And even when it's not, I tell her everything's alright
Before we hung up I said
'Hey momma, don't forget to tell my baby sister I'll see her in the fall
And tell Memaw that I miss her
Yeah, I should give her a call
And make sure you tell Daddy that I'm still his little girl
Yeah, I still feel like I'm where I'm supposed to be
Don't forget to remember me'

Tonight I find myself kneeling by the bed to pray
I haven't done this in a while
So I don't know what to say but
'Lord I feel so small sometimes in this big ol' place
Yeah, I know there are more important things,
But don't forget to remember me
But don't forget to remember me'

                                                                    "No Such Thing"

"Welcome to the real world", she said to me
Condescendingly
Take a seat
Take your life
Plot it out in black and white
Well I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
And the drama queens
I'd like to think the best of me
Is still hiding
Up my sleeve

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something's better
On the other side

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above

So the good boys and girls take the so called right track
Faded white hats
Grabbing credits
Maybe transfers
They read all the books but they can't find the answers
And all of our parents
They're getting older
I wonder if they've wished for anything better
While in their memories
Tiny tragedies

They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something's better
On the other side

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you got to rise above

I am invincible
As long as I'm alive

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above

I just can't wait til my 10 year reunion
I'm gonna bust down the double doors
And when I stand on these tables before you
You will know what all this time was for

Not a simple story, it's artwork.

Literature is not a simple way of expressing feeling, opinion or even standing facts. There is much more than a simple article or book, writers think before they write. They have to go through a process that shapes the story into art. In literature every one needs to take steps and learn every sentence structure, word possible and ways of organizing to make the story flow without any grammatical errors. A story should not be read with only one purpose of knowing what it is about, it needs to be seen with a different set of eyes that read between the lines. They story can explain many things as, in what type of style it was written and how the author used different type of literary devices to make different meanings to the story. The metaphor, imagery, motif, symbols and the plot are all components that authors use to make the story interesting and be art work.

" I Give Voice "

I give voice to power
and I'm as loud as a trumpet and a drum
on a Monday and Sunday

The kind that goes to the mind,
 awarded with madness and ignorances.
The true power, control.

Controlling the voice,
the one to save the world.
From the once going mad.

The people who have no control,
of what they say.. The so call "stupid".
Soon to ruin the world.

I can control I have the true power.
The one awarded to the goddesses,
of world peace.

Green Light Project

  • What country are you originally from?
I am from Mexico

  • Why did you leave this country?
I left my country because I wanted to visit my sister that lived in Arlington Tx.

  • When did you leave? How old were at that time?
I left in 1994 when I was 27 years old.

  •  What were the conditions in the country when you left?
Many people didn't have jobs and were poor. I was one of those lucky people in my family that had a college education and a good job.

  •  How did you prepare for your trip here?
I went to get a VISA in Monterrey Mexico.

  • Who came with you when you immigrated? Who did you leave behind? What did you leave behind?
Nobody, I came by myself. I left most of my family; sister, brothers and parents.

  • How did you get here? Did you stay somewhere else before arriving here?
traveled by bus

  •   Why did you choose the United States? Why not some other country?
My sister had a house in Arlington and I also wanted to shop and visit.

  • Who decided you would come here? Did you want to leave?
My parents decided for me to come here because my sister needed a family member.

  • How did others in your home country treat you when they knew you were leaving?
People didn't treat me differently because they knew that I had a family member that could look after me.

  •  What changes in lifestyle did you make when you came here?
I had to learn the language and the culture of the United States.

  •  What was your first impression of the United States? Has this initial impression changed over time?
My first impression of the UNited States was all the nature and different animals. Also the different social classes that interacted with one another.

  • What are some of the differences/similarities you've noticed in the cultures here and in your home country?
The lifestyle of each person, how they based their lives on money and work.

  • What were your hopes for yourself (and/or your family) when you came here? Have you realized these hopes?
I wanted to learn a new culture and the way that Americans worked to get money. I wanted to learn how to become independent of my parents.

  • How were you treated when you first arrived in the United States? How are you treated now?
Everything was normal because my sister was with me at all times.

  • Were your expectations of America met? Was your idea of America the same as the reality?
Everything was beautiful but people had to work a lot to have the so call American Dream.

My mother came from Durango Mexico when she was 27 years old. She had a college educations and a job that was well respected by her family. She came by bus to visit her sister. Everything was so different from Mexico, she explained that in Durango the state she is from is it was all desert their was no plant or animal life. She said that one thing she noticed the most from the United States was that people had to work for everything. All that surrounded the lives of Americans was work and money. Her intentions from coming to the United States were to spend some time with her sister and shop, but then she saw how hard working everyone was that she decided to stay. At first she thought that every thing would be easier because she had a college education but over time she knew she needed to learn a new language and culture.

What is to want?

Many people have things in life that are not appreciated. It's always better to want more, this takes life to another level. There are many things that people want as love, money, friendship or everything. This can never happen if people don't set goals for themselves, they can make people work as hard to achieve their dreams.

Is better to want because like in The Great Gatsby many of the character wanted something so bad that they did everything in their power to make them happen. The characters that demonstrated this need were Gatsby, Nick, Tom and Daisy probably most of the main characters of the book. Gatsby the only thing that wanted the most was the love of Daisy. He knew he needed to do everything in his power to make the past come back to reality. The love of Daisy meant everything to him. when he came back from war and knew that she was about to get married made him do the impossible to regain Daisy's love. He wanted love, but all Daisy wanted as the money.

The 20's  were years that made people want more especially the poor because the wanted the American Dream that was all a lie. The rich had it all, the only things they wanted were things but not the ones that made you a better person. The corruption in this time was big, making the things that people want irrelevant. The Great Gatsby is a novel that reveals that the American Dream is not true making it an idea not reality. This was the idea that people had in the 20s the need to want a better life.

This illustrates how want is much better than have. The idea of having something make everything less needed as a goal. Goals make life more exciting because you would need to work and experience much more things if you want. The Great Gatsby was a great example to show what many peoples ideas of want are and how are they more important then to have..

Vocabulary Project

That night the air was plethora of fecund, that made that summer full of beautiful flowers. But I felt like a kindle burning from inside. It was incessant, that even my mother realized how I felt that she became tedium and asked, "What is wrong?". It was very elusive for me to explain.  Me and my mother were best friends, it was altruistic from me not to tell her. So I did, she then said that this was some frivolous stuff. The truth is that I didn't have the guts to say such a exorbitant thing. I told her a lie. That day at school was abhor, it was the day that I became the target of bullying. There was this girl she was renowned and grandiose in everything, that everyone would eschew from her. She became eclectic and I became one of her many victims. I was the new girl, the girl that needed to be abrasive polished. I didn't known most of the people, it was only my first week but I knew that year would be surfeit acerbic. She would attack the shy and the vivacious her actions were presumptuous hasten things. That afternoon she looked as waver as always but deep inside you could see how big of a bigot she was. I was walking to the restroom when if felt someone was following me. I whent inside, I looked back there she was. She started to harangue me, effervescent in everything she said. I felt to the cooled ground and stayed there until she left and the end of the day. When I went to sleep I started to think about everything and I told my mother. She told me to not let stupid words affect me in any way. The rest of the year I didn't let people bring me down. I made many good friends that were with me in the happiest tames and also saddest.

It All Together

  • Life of Pi is a work of  "Magical Realism"....
The novel had fictional characters that were placed in real time setting or events. Many things from the novel can be proven as the meerkats and tigers but many of the can't, they are not real. Not that we know of! Plant's that eat humans are not realistic because we have no evidence. Pi is the only one that knows the truth and also Richard Parker but he was nowhere to be found and plus he can't talk. So this story is told by one point of view that is Pi. This story can be true because there are many things that we can't see that we believe in, religion.

Life of Pi

Life of Pi  is a story of a boy that in his way to Canada a big tragedy happens and his ship sank with all of his family and animals from the zoo that his parents used to have back in India. He is left in the ocean over seven months with a tiger named Richard Parker, with no help of the world. What is the true meaning of this?

There isn't any, because the allegory if the story of Life of Pi is not what happens to Pi and Richard Parker is the symbols that Martel expresses in the book. Is things like a number 3.14, the idea of three religions and how we as humans see the world. The meaning or the allegory of the book is not about how much Richard Parker and Pi suffered in the seven months. Is actually how we see the world from what we know and would like to experience. In class we said that the actual allegory of Life of Pi was to give a meaning to life. I think that the whole perspective was to do every thing you can to see the world in different points of view. Like Pi he saw the world in three different ways because of the religions that he followed, this helped him in understanding himself and the world.

Why?

Mostly everyone in the world knows how to write and read. But not everyone has a purpose of doing it, if you go to school you need to write down note, same if you are in college. But there are the others that do it for other reasons as to tell stories, opinions or facts and also to tell the meaning of life through different eyes. This are some topics that people mostly writers talk about. But what is a good writer?

I say that there is no good writer, because you can right something that a lot of people might think that is perfect but others might think the opposite. It all comes down to peoples opinions, because I consider myself a "writer" a simple teenage girl that hows to school every five days, has friends and still has the internal question of who she is. I believe is the same for others, that at the last minute of your life you know what piece of the game you played in the world. But mostly people right from their imagination, life experiences and other events because they want to know.

I really have never liked writing because school and my teachers have made my hate it. Is all because of you HOMEWORK! I hope that in the future when I learn a little about myself and the ones that surround me, I can start liking writing a little more. But for now I don't see that happening.

Pi

Pi was the name that had everyone in question. What is the meaning of Pi? We know that is the name of someone that has suffer most of his life. Pi means something for its family and friends, a nickname. But after all that Pi has been through it has a different significant.  What is Pi? A number 3.14 that is the circumference of a circle, because his real name is Piscine meaning pool. But why did he decided to use Pi (3.14) as a nickname? Probably it was just because or waset that he knew that he was someone in life or infinite.

Animals or Humans !

Once we were wild, free and basic,
humans had to survive for there lives.
Animals had liberty to run with the wind,
to not be fearful of a cage.

Humans evolved they didn't,
we grew as a civilization, we grew in power.
We had control of are food, freedom and  lives,
even of the animals that we once were fearful of.

We became cities, states, countries and enemies,
of the animals and are own.
We made war, military and guns,
that then for are  pleasure we made zoos.

To see all the little cute animals trapped,
for years, surrounded by laughing kids and dads taking pictures.
They will never be free because once they get old they go,
"to a better place".

Now the question is, "Are we the animals"
because we have no feeling and hearts.
So are the animals the humans? They are not the once killing each
other by the cutest designers bag.

I Go back to May 1937

A poem of someone that still does not exist. Sharon Olds wrote of an unborn child trying to explain to his parents that their marriage would be a nightmare. First Sharon explains the setting of the poem, it starts in a "formal gate of their college" which means that they are about to graduate and also get  married. The main character which is their son is trying to tell them that what they are about to do is going to hurt children and they as well will suffer in ways they never heard of. He wants to change everything, make the lives of his parents go in different directions. But at the same time he doesn't because he knows that if he changes the future he will never come to be. " I want to live" be someone in life, and experience things that make you feel human.

Simple old hat..

In class our teacher asked a question, "What will make a better story a hat or an elephant inside a snake? As I thought many people said the elephant inside a snake was a better story. I respect their opinions but how can a be a better story? What is so amazing of a poor elephant being eating by a snake? Hello!Traumatizing! The hat, can have many stories and good stories that can have meaning. I hat can be simple but how many things have changed to be amazing.  A elephant inside a snake is so plain, ok the snake eat the elephant. How scary! How is the elephant going to get out? This story seems so childish. Hey people we are in High School now.

I wonder...

In class we read a love story by George Bogin named Nineteen, it was really confusing and it left many people wondering. One of the questions that I asked myself were, "Was George the Mr.Lonely as many people call him?", or "Was she the one that got away?". Most people say that he was stupid and a loner because of the fact that he was a coward that never had the courage to say hi. Just a simple "hi".

I believe that is the story of a past crush, now he is a middle age man that still remembers its could it been  first true love. The moment that he walked out of the Philosophy Library he knew that he never was going to have a second chance to talk with her, because I feel that she liked him back and she as well was shy. Now in his old age he feels that he won't have that feeling ever again, the feeling of innocence.

What is a reader?

Everyone can read, some read what they want and some don't even read at all. It all comes down to the type of person they are. The type of thing they enjoy in life and the ones they hate. A true reader, is the one that loves books, magazines, articles or even their textbooks. Its a passion a hobby something that makes you feel safe and confident. Reading books doesn't mean that you are going to like every one of them, it means that you might learn something from yourself. They open new worlds, new ideas that you can explore and get your own thoughts about, you might like them or you might not, but its the place that they take you to that you enjoy the most.

My reading timeline started when I was about 5- years old. I would read books like Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! by Mo Willems and The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. This books were my life at that age. I remember making my father read them to me every night, no I mean every night. Now that I'm older, everything changed. I have more responsibilities as school, at home and a lot of homework . I don't read as much as I would like. What I read now are my textbooks and some  book projects.

To be a good reader takes many years, first you need to learn more about yourself and the world to get the concepts of the books. I consider myself as just a simple reader. I'm 15 years old and I still have a lot of things to learn. One of my favorite authors this past year has been Jay Asher. He is a really talented writer, that makes you go into the story and be the mean character. This types of book like the ones Asher writes are the ones that I consider to be for a "simple reader" like me. I read this book because I had to do a project but I actually liked it and I have already read 3 books from that author.

Reading will always be part of me, not because its something that I enjoy its also because of school. In future years I will have to read for High School and College hoping that in those years I can become the "good reader" I hope to be.
